Pontchartrain Cancer Center
Website Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 18, 2026
Pontchartrain Cancer Center (“PCC,” “we,” “us” or “our”) is an independently owned oncology practice serving patients in Covington, Hammond and Bogalusa, Louisiana. This Website Privacy Policy explains what information we gather when you visit our website, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have.
This policy covers our public website only. It does not cover the care we provide in our offices, our infusion centers or our patient portal.
At a glance
- We collect only what you choose to send us and basic technical details about how the site is used.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with other companies for their own advertising.
- Your medical records and health information are protected by federal law (HIPAA) and our Notice of Privacy Practices, not by this policy.
- Please don’t send medical details through our website. Call us instead.
In a medical emergency, call 911. Our website, contact forms and email are not monitored around the clock and should never be used for urgent medical needs.
1. Your health information
As a health care provider, PCC follows the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Information that identifies you and relates to your health, care or payment for care is called protected health information. How we use and protect it is explained in our Notice of Privacy Practices. If this policy and the Notice of Privacy Practices ever conflict about your health information, the Notice of Privacy Practices controls.
Because email and website forms are not always secure, please do not include diagnoses, test results, medications, insurance numbers or other medical details when you contact us online. If you need to discuss your care, call our office or use the patient portal.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
You can browse our website without telling us who you are. If you choose to contact us, request an appointment, download or submit a form, or ask to receive updates, we may collect:
- Your name, phone number, email address and mailing address
- The office you prefer and the best time to reach you
- Anything else you choose to include in your message
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours automatically records some technical details when you visit, such as:
- Your IP address and general location (city or region, not your exact address)
- Your browser, device type and operating system
- The pages you view, how long you stay and the site that referred you
- The date and time of your visit
We use this information in summary form to understand how the site is used. We do not use it to identify you personally.
3. Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Our website is hosted on Squarespace, which uses cookies that are needed for the site to load, stay secure and remember basic settings. We may also use analytics tools, such as Squarespace Analytics or Google Analytics, to count visits and see which pages are most helpful.
We do not place advertising or tracking pixels on pages where you sign in, enter health information or schedule care, and we do not allow these tools to receive your health information. If we ever use online advertising to reach people in our community, we will configure it so that it does not receive health information about you.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. To opt out of Google Analytics on every site you visit, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking cookies may cause parts of the site to work differently.
Some browsers send “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals. Because we do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, we treat these signals as consistent with how we already operate.
4. How we use information
We use the information collected through our website to:
- Respond to your questions and requests, including appointment requests
- Send information you asked to receive
- Operate, maintain and improve the website and make it easier to use and more accessible

- Meet our legal and regulatory obligations
Once you become a patient, information you share as part of your care is handled under our Notice of Privacy Practices.
5. When we share information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only in these limited situations:
- Service providers. Companies that help us run the website and our office, such as web hosting, form processing, email and analytics providers. They may use your information only to provide services to us. When a provider handles protected health information, we require a business associate agreement as HIPAA requires.
- Legal reasons. When required by law, subpoena or court order, or when needed to protect the safety, rights or property of our patients, staff, the public or PCC.
- Practice changes. If PCC merges with, is acquired by or transfers part of its practice to another organization, information may transfer as part of that change, subject to this policy and applicable law.
- With your permission. In any other situation, only when you have asked us to or agreed to it.
We may also share information that has been combined or stripped of anything that identifies you, such as total monthly website visits.
6. Patient portal and other websites
Our patient portal is provided by an outside technology company and has its own terms of use and privacy policy. Information in the portal is part of your medical record and is protected under HIPAA and our Notice of Privacy Practices.
Our website may also link to sites we don’t control, such as the patient portal, insurance companies, clinical trial listings, cancer organizations, maps and our social media pages. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information, so we encourage you to read their privacy policies. Please keep in mind that anything you post publicly on social media, including on our pages, can be seen by others. Never share personal health details in a public post or comment.
7. Calls, texts and email
If you give us your phone number or email address, we may contact you about the request you made, your appointments or your care. We do not use your contact information for third-party marketing. If you receive appointment reminders by text, you can reply STOP at any time to stop them, or call our office to change how we contact you. Message and data rates may apply.

- Update or delete. You can ask us to update, correct or delete contact information you sent through our website. We will do so unless we are required to keep it, such as when it has become part of your medical record.
- Stop emails. You can unsubscribe from any email updates using the link in the message or by contacting us.
- Cookies. You can manage cookies in your browser at any time.
- Your medical records. Your rights to see, copy or correct your medical records are explained in our Notice of Privacy Practices.

9. Security and retention
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect information collected through our website, and our site is encrypted in transit. No website, email or internet connection can be guaranteed to be completely secure, which is one more reason we ask you not to send medical details online.
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes described here or as required by law. If a data breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by Louisiana and federal law.
10. Children
Our website is meant for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children online. If you believe a child has sent us information through the website, please contact us and we will delete it. Care for patients who are minors is arranged by a parent or guardian through our office.
11. Changes to this policy
